Desire

Read Romans 1:10 – 15

The next part of Paul’s prayer is his desire for God to provide a way for him to come visit the believers in Rome.  If you recall God had hindered Paul from going to Rome, yet he believed wholeheartedly God wanted him to go there (which he did eventually… in chains).  Why did Paul want to visit? The answers are in Romans 1:11-15

To impart a Spiritual gift to strengthen the believers.

1. Spiritual gift (charisma): This is the grace of gifts denoting extraordinary power enabling Christians to serve in the church of Christ.  These are gifts given by the Holy Spirit.
2.  We do not know what specific gift Paul wants to impart but it was intended for the purpose of strengthening their faith.
3. God has given all believers gifts to strengthen the body and we are called use them.  This is why being involved in the Church community is so important,  because this is a time where we can use our gifts for God’s glory and for the benefit of the body.  

​To reap a harvest

1. Paul desired to see the fruits of his labors.  He may not have been directly involved in establishing this church in Rome.  Nevertheless he brought the Gospel message to the Gentile world thus he was indirectly involved in building this body of believers in Rome.

 To preach the Gospel.

1. Paul is indebted to the Gentiles to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We know that this body was probably made up of Christians so Paul most likely referred to the ongoing work of teaching God’s word and discipling fellow believers.
